The Basket of Ethnicity presents sleeping infants of different ethnic backgrounds nestled within a large, flower-like arrangement of protective leaves. Each child occupies an individual enclosure while remaining part of the same larger form.
At the center, a small figure appears surrounded by roots, visually connecting the individual lives around it to a common source. Deep blues surround the composition, while metallic acrylic accents interact with the painted surfaces and introduce subtle shifts in appearance as the light changes.
The work brings together difference, origin, vulnerability, and connection. The children retain their individual features and identities, yet all emerge within the same organic structure—a basket holding humanity in its diversity.
